My suggestion in the matter.

find a host that offers 24/7 phone support... not just email support.... call their number at 3AM their time...

Cheapest by far is not always the best. Their are people out there offering $30/month servers.... power alone for a server is half of that...

Stay away from unlimited bandwidth... as their is no such thing.

Also, try to find out the history of the company.... allot of people resell servers from other providers whic may cause a great deal in lag time responses since you are dealing with a middle man.

Make sure the company has been around for afew years as it most likely leads to stability... 95%+ of all companies fail within the first 3 years of business... (Just a note)

These are just some of the basic things i would recommend.

You can give http://www.hostingpacket.com a try. They are cheap. Good Server Control Panel that they offer free, developed by in-house experts. Which means the 24x7x365 support staff can get your issues resolved real quick without waiting for others to remove bugs

Better dedicated servers are offered by such companies as serverpoint.com (http://www.serverpoint.com) which is known for quality and experience, and also webintellects.com (http://www.webintellects.com) who are offering really good dedicated deals for any requirement being also experienced and inexpensive.

The first thing you should know is that dedicated servers are required by the websites which have a good amount of traffic and needs high reliability and a good uptime. Basically, dedicated servers are dedicated to one website, which means you have full access to the core administrative functions. It is bit costly than other hostings but in dedicated hosting you dont need to worry about technical support as most of the web hosting providers provide support free for every issue. If you are really interested i can offer you a great deal, just PM me your requirements and budget....

Dedicated server is the best hosting account. It gives you a complete freedom of acting with the resources you have, enables installation of any software, setting up VPS and shared accounts, and the main thing is the whole server resources are availiable only for you! Dedicated server account cannot be oversold.

Good dedicated servers are offered by such company as hostingsource.com. Low cost and reasonable packages of different specs.

For dedicated servers, I hear, LiquidWeb and SoftLayer are the best out there. You can check their plans and choose which suits your needs.

there are excellent dedicated accounts presented by 7host.com, but only if there is a need in windows management,

For both linux and windows I suppose webintellects.com is the company you would like to deal with.
