I would like to know if other users have had experiences similar to mine.

I had my site hosted by AF Hosting (www.afhosting.com) for over two years. At first the service was OK, but a huge problem arose during the last year. They made numerous extra charges to my credit card, amounting to $484.73 over a one-year period. All extra charges were duplicates or multiples of the normal charges. I attempted to contact them several times through e-mail and through forms on their website. They have *completely* ignored me, for many months. I had to cancel the credit card to avoid further fraudulent use by AF Hosting. My credit card company conducted an "investigation" and refused to credit me most of the disputed charges because they occurred more than 60 days earlier. The reason I had waited several months before lodging a complaint is that AF Hosting actually undercharged me for several months, so I thought the charges would balance out; however, over the final year the overcharges far exceeded the undercharges. Recently I filed a complaint with the Better Business Burea of Wisconsin (where AF Hosting is apparently located), so that other users might become aware of this company's record.

My impression, based on the failure of AF Hosting to respond to my complaints, is that either (1) they are knowingly engaged in fraudulent credit card use and are counting on the assumption that it is not worth it to most users to spend the time and money to seek legal recourse; or (2) they have committed some massive technical blunder and are thousands of dollars in debt and not talking to anybody until their lawyers can figure out what to do. My advice: Avoid doing business with this company. Also, be sure to check your credit card statement monthly, and demand immediate resolution of any incorrect charges you find on the statement.
