My first website hit the ‘net in 1995. I can remember it like it was yesterday. I had designed the site with the initial beta release of Microsoft FrontPage and spent countless hours with that fledgling WYSIWYG editor. The product improved quite a bit over the years, but I migrated to HomeSite because it had more of the features I needed and less of the ones I didn’t. These days, I probably edit html in Notepad as often as I do in an editor. I still recommend FrontPage to friends who are looking to quickly create a website without having to learn html, but I haven’t kept up on the various editors. Which ones are the best? What do you use?

Dreamweaver seems to be the industry standard. Very costly though.
BBEdit is another software that many HTML coders use.

Dreamweaver is a great choice. I've been a fan of Homesite for years, and the heart of Homesite lives on in Dreamweaver.
