If I want my site to be compatible with every single user, what would be the best width to use?

The best thing would definitely be to test it in all possible browsers.

Well if you are going for a fixed width design, you should make sure it fits on the screen at 1024x768 resolution, without horizontal scrolling. This means an effective width of about 950-980 pixels.

For 100% of the users you'd have to use around 750px
For about 90% you'd have to use around 950px...

I'm always using 750 px's for my image in my websites.
